Robert Gano  Criswell
Robert G. Criswell, 97, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born May 5, 1920, in Webster, New York, he was the son of the late Robert Lyle and Edith Gano Criswell.

He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1937.

He was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II in Pearl Harbor where he served as an Aviation Chief Metalsmith.

He was the President of Criswells’ Inc., and owned Criswells’ Flower and FTD shop from 1928-1977. Robert worked as realtor for Frye Lopp and was a real estate appraiser for One Valley Bank. He served on the Board of Directors of Old National Bank for 35 years. He was very active in his community and was a member of many organizations including the Hagerstown Art Club, Fort Myers Art Association, Rock Port, Massachusetts Art Club, and Williamsport, Maryland Wood Carvers Club. Robert worked with Loaves and Fishes and served with Meals on Wheels until the age of 92. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Carroll (Cris) Edward Criswell and wife Karen, and James Kenneth Criswell, and wife Robin; one daughter-in-law, Loretta Criswell; six grandchildren: Chad, Derek, Ella, Thomas, Steven, and Allison; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Lee (Lloyd) Criswell, and one son Robert Douglas Criswell.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lynn Wilson officiating. Military graveside service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.
