Obituary for Irene Cole (Bartles)

Irene Cole, 85, of Falling Waters, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.

Born October 13, 1931 in Edenbrook Farm in Arden, WV she was the daughter of the late James Joseph David Bartles and Anna Brown Bartles.

She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. Irene had retired after 30 years of service from E.I. DuPont as a Human Resources Officer; and later was a branch manager for Longaberger Baskets.

She and her husband, Philip were proud members of Class of '49 of Martinsburg High School.

She is survived by one son, Richard "Dick" Cole, and wife, Vallie "Dee" Dolores Cole of Falling Waters; two loving grandchildren, Richele E. Cole and C. Gregory Cole; a special great-granddaughter, Layla Cole; one sister, Mildred Lee Butts of Martinsburg; brother-in-law, Gerald Cole and wife, Lucille of Falling Waters; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Philip Cole; and one brother, David Allen Bartles.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Harmony United Methodist Church at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 17, 2017 with Rev. Terri Cofiell officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or Harmony United Methodist Church, PO Box 1510, Falling Waters, WV 25419.
