The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Phillip Coffey can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Linda Nevin Watts

Dear Betsy and family, It’s been 45 years since I first met you and ‘Mr. Coffey’ in Harrogate, England. This was my first overseas tour and I had been told it could be cold, damp and rainy as well as beautiful during the summer months. To ensure I was warm enough, I brought pants suits which were acceptable dress in the states. It was during this time that ‘Mr. Coffey’ took me aside telling me “the acceptable and preferred clothing for living in England is suits and dresses.” I explained that pants suits were the style at home and until my household goods arrived, I couldn’t change. When I told the girls in the office, they said “Good for you standing your ground. We are now going to start wearing pants suits too.” I know Mr. Coffey was not happy with me now that all Admin women became pants suit girls. That is just one small memory of my first year. Mr. Coffee was a great administrator, stern but always honest and a friend to everyone. It wasn’t long before we laughed when I called him a ‘leg man.’ I’m sure he will be missed by many. As a 14 year hospice volunteer many of my patient’s families have told me stories of their loved ones sending messages from the other side. Look for them. His wisdom and guidance may continue.
