Joanne Monroe Wright, 68, of Shepherdstown, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Berkeley Medical Center.

Born July 8, 1948 in Martinsburg, she is the daughter of the late James Walter Monroe and Hattie Virginia Cooke Monroe.

She had served on Town Council for four years, a member of Neighborhood Watch, and enjoyed knitting and baking pies.

She was a member of First Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold Wright; three sons, Darren Wright and wife, Kathy of Gerrardstown, Michael Wright and wife, Lynn of Shepherdstown, and Jerry Redman and wife, Dianne of Seneca Rock, WV; one daughter, Marion Wright of Shepherdstown; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Monroe of Shepherdstown, Clyde Vincent Monroe and wife, Diane of Bunker Hill; and six sisters, Betty Roberts and Ruth Brown both of Shepherdstown, Naomi Fisher, Kathy Monroe, and Angela Monroe of Martinsburg, and Melanie Bolden of Memphis, TN.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:30AM at Asbury United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown. Family will receive friends from 10:30AM to 11:30AM prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
