Reverend Russell Burdette  McClatchey
Rev. Russell Burdette McClatchey, born on November 20, 1939, died on February 10, 2017.

He was ordained in the North Iowa Conference in 1962 and then served the United Methodist Church, Baltimore-Washington Conference for over 50 years. Over his career, Russ served the following charges: Parkton, Christ Edmonson, Lansdowne, Rockville, Mt. Tabor, Melville Chapel/Harwood Park/Relay, Salem-Cedar Grove, Cheverly, Mt. Harmony/Lower Marlboro, and Blairton.

Russell was active in the Berkeley County Democrats, AARP and Lion's Club. He was an avid gardener, and book reader, especially relating to history, religious or biblical archaeology. He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Ramona Anne McClatchey; his son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Tami McClatchey of Ellicott City, MD, his daughter Mona Marie and son-n-law, Ray Curtis Jr. of New Windsor, MD, and his son, Mark McClatchey of Mt. Airy, MD. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Renee', Gregory, and Christopher Curtis, Connor McClatchey and Caleb McClatchey; and one very special great granddaughter, Ella Rose Tubman.

Russell was one of seven children born to the late Christy and Mary McClatchey of Iowa, predeceased by his brothers Christy and Robert McClatchey and sisters June Wodtke and Audrey Hamilton.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Christensen of DeKalb, IL and brother, Richard McClatchey of Lacey, WA as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home.

A Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Hedgesville United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or to the United Methodist Committee of Relief "UMCOR" 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA. 30308.
