Obituary for George Andrew Johnson

George Andrew Johnson, 97, of Hedgesville passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.

Born October 16, 1919 in Morgan County, WV he was the son of the late James Stewart Johnson and Mary Michael Johnson.

He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army.

He was retired from the railroad and was still farming.

He was a member of Independent Church of God Miracle Center.

He is survived by four sons, Richard Johnson, Bill Johnson and wife, Prinnie, Danny Johnson and wife, Karen, and Greg Johnson; two daughters, Lucinda Ferguson and husband, Fergie, Sheryl Cowgill and husband, Ed; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Twila Payne; and JoAnn Foreman who was like daughter to him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Alta DeShong Johnson; one grandson; two brothers; and four sisters.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2:00PM at Independent Church of God Miracle Center with Pastors Lenny Ambrose, Steve Dawson, and Dave Palmer officiating.

Interment will be in Spohr Crossroads Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
