Alden Cecil "Moe"  Pitzer
Alden Cecil "Moe" Pitzer, 83, of Hedgesville passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the VA Medical Center.

Born June 21, 1933 in Hedgesville, WV, he was the son of the late James Sheppard Pitzer and Ethel Haines Pitzer Ball.

Mr. Pitzer was a retired veteran of the US Air Force with 20 years of service with a tour in Vietnam; and worked for 22 years as a custodian for Berkeley County Schools.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Siler) Pitzer; their six beloved Pug dogs; three sons, Steven Martin and wife, Joann of Levittown, NY, Scott Douglas and wife, Rebecca, and Timothy James Pitzer and wife, Lorna all of Hedgesville; three daughters, Tina Lee Heavner and husband, Roger of Myrtle Beach, SC, Terry Lynn DeHaven and husband, Paul, Jr. of Hedgesville and Jennifer Cecilia Pitzer of Rock Hill, SC; two step-daughters, Laura Riggs of Hedgesville and Wendy Branson of Ranson; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loyal friend, Jack Otto.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Virginia French Pitzer; one son, Stewart Wayne Pitzer; one granddaughter, Stacey Lynn DeHaven; and two brothers, James W. and Paul F. Pitzer.

He was a member of the Johnsontown Bible Church in Hedgesville; the Board of Directors for the Tomahawk Ruritan Club, served as Past President of the School Board Retirees Association, a member and Past Master of the Berkeley Lodge #37 AF and AM; the VFW; the American Legion; the NRA, and was a 32 ° Scottish Rites. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, woodworking, and playing "Santa" for many years. He was a volunteer with Hospice of the Panhandle.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Johnsontown Bible Church.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jim Bishop officiating.

Military graveside service will be held at Hedgesville Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
