Dorothy Carol Dorsey, 87, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Countryside Assisted Living.
Born October 31, 1928 in Morgan County, WV she was the daughter of the late Martin E. and Oleta P. Arnold Shanholtz.
She was a faithful member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Gruver Sunday School Class.
Carol was awarded the Florence Nightingale honor from City Hospital. She was a graduate of City Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and a member of District #6 City Hospital Alumni. Although she had no children of her own, she assisted with delivering thousands of babies during her 38 years as a registered nurse.
She is survived by four sisters, Twila M. Andrews, Betty Perry, and JoAnn Wachter all of Berkeley Springs, Oleta Jean Shanholtz of Martinsburg; sister-in-law, Barbara Shanholtz of Great Falls, MT; 12 nieces; 4 nephews; 36 great nieces and nephews; 39 great-great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne William Dorsey; two brothers, Robert L. Shanholtz and Homer M. Shanholtz; one niece; three nephews; one great-nephew; and two great-nieces.
Family will receive friends on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 1:00PM at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Mooney officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
