Obituary for Barbara Ruth Hendricks (Baumgartner)

Barbara Ruth Lightner Hendricks, 80, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born January 6, 1936, in Staunton, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Jerome Lightner and Gladys Baumgartner Lightner.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia. She work as a Registered Nurse in New York, Richmond, City Hospital, and retired from the VA Medical Center after more than 25 years of service.
Barbara was a former member of the Garden Club and Racquet Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Lindsay and husband, Raymond and their two children, Jacob and John, all of Charlottesville, VA; and her beloved dog Charlie.
The family would like to express special thanks to her devoted caregivers, Lisa Talbot, and Terry and Annie Hendrick, her loving and watchful neighbors, also gratitude to the Home Health Physical Therapy Department especially Mel Baker and the ICU Staff at Berkeley Medical Center.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a cousin, who was like a sister, Elise Michael.
A memorial service will be held on Saturay, May 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the Knight's of Columbus Hall behind St.Leo's Church in Inwood, WV. Interment will be private.
