Obituary for Shirley Jeanette Hood (Rowland)

Shirley Jeanette "Rowland" Hood, 77, of Hedgesville, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her residence.
Born October 7, 1937 in Kingsport, TN she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Violet Dowland Rowland.
Shirley was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was generous, sweet, loving, caring, and loyal. Her home was where everyone gathered when her children were growing up; she loved providing a second home for friends and family.
She is survived by two sons, Master Sergeant Craig Hood and wife, Mary of Williamsport, Jason Hood and wife, Stacie of Sharpsburg, MD; one daughter, Teresa Obitts and husband, Richard of Hedgesville; three grandchildren, Ryan Morgan Hood, Dustynn Knight, Kelly Richards; great-grandson, Jeffrey Stotler; one sister, Ellen Wineinger of Lamar, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Morgan” Hood; two grandchildren, Jeanette and Sarah Roseberry; and a sister, Juanita Hobbs.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 3:00PM with Pastor Joy Zepp officiating at Manor Church of the Brethren in Boonsboro, MD with a meal to follow. Interment will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Kingsport, TN at a later date.
Family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM prior to the service at the church.
