James Robert McDaniel, 70, of Charles Town, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Jefferson Medical Center. Born Sept. 2, 1944, in Duffields, he was the son of the late George Washington McDaniel and Carrie Lee Donivan McDaniel.
James was a member of the Murrill Hill United Methodist Church and was a laborer for Vieners & Sons, Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Margaret Hostler McDaniel; one son, James R. McDaniel, Jr., of Charles Town; three daughters: Penny S. Costello, of Charles Town, Lisa D. McDaniel, of Ranson, and Hope Hite, and husband Charles, also of Charles Town; one sister, Emma V. Kerns, and husband Robert, of Charles Town; six grandchildren: Brandon Costello, Braden McDaniel, Rusty White, Casey McDaniel, and Skylar McDaniel, and 6 great grandchildren: Chloe Godwin, Austin Godwin, Carli White, Nathan White, Jacob White, and Evan Maley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Alfred McDaniel, Charles McDaniel, and Howard McDaniel; four sisters: Rosie Harder, Anna Lightner, Thelma Hinton, and Margaret Long, and great granddaughter, Destiny White.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m.,Thurs., June 18, 2015, at the Murrill Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donnie J. Cardwell and the Pastor Floyd “Bucky” Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Uvilla United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tues., June 16, 2015 and Wed. June 17, 2015 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in care of the family.
