Obituary for Clara Lee Bennett (Hall)

Clara Lee (Hall) Bennett , 83, went home peacefully with her beloved family by
her side , Friday, March 20. Clara was born September 27, 1931 in Beckley, WV.
Clara was the daughter of the late Orville L. and Louella B. Hall. Clara was the
loving and devoted wife of John W. Bennett who passed away in 1990.
Clara graduated in 1949 from Woodrow Wilson High School. Clara was always very proud of her West Virginia heritage and especially proud of her Golden Horse Shoe
award given only to those with exceptional knowledge of West Virginia history.

Clara worked for the Vipperman Lumber Company and Boy Scouts of America. When
Clara and John started their family, Clara became a full time mother and devoted
her life to raising her son, Charles and spending time with her grandson Thomas.
Clara's biggest smiles always came with her time spent with Thomas.
Clara was also very active at the Pikeside United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, served as the church treasurer, and was a member of the U. M. Women's
Group. She cherished the times spent with her church family and friends.
Clara enjoyed volunteer work with the church , VITA ( Volunteer Income Tax
Assistance) , and the Jayceettes.

Spending time with family and friends was
most precious to Clara and she will be missed by many.

Clara is survived by a sister Judy C. Harris of South Point, Ohio , a son Charles Bennett and wife Alesia of Arendtsville, PA. and a grandson Thomas Bennett of Winchester, VA.
Clara is survived by nieces Stacey Clutters, Patty Ball, and Jill Blake, and
nephews Timothy Clutters, Kevin Clutters, Jeff Hall, Scott Hall, Mike Ball, and
Mark Newell whom she loved dearly. Clara is also survived by a step
granddaughter Clarissa Kiessling and husband a step grandson Leighton McCleaf
and wife and a step great granddaughter, Elliott Rose McCleaf.

Clara was predeceased by an infant son Richard Allen Bennett and a brother James L.
Hall.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 11:00AM at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Broome & Rev. Patricia Arendt officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pikeside United Methodist Church or
Martinsburg Public Library.
