Richard Franklin  Bates
Richard Franklin Bates, 80, of Bunker Hill, WV passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the VA Medical Center.
Born September 28, 1934 in Sweet Springs, WV he was the son of the late William and Frances Baker Bates.
He is a member of Westview Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force and the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Warner Bates; two sons, Terry L Bates and wife, Caroline of White Marsh, MD, Dennis J. Bates and wife, Melissa of Inwood; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Garrett, Natalie, Olivia, and Mallory Bates; one brother, Hershel Bates of Delta, PA; and one sister, Elizabeth Bates of Sweet Springs, WV.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy L. Bates; and his siblings, Williams Bates, Naomi Adams, Alfred Bates, Druscilla Seizmore, and Madilyn VanderVander.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00AM at Westview Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Kelly officiating.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00AM at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
