Obituary for Phyllis L. Murphy (Grove)

Phyllis L. Murphy, 79, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

Born July 1, 1935 in Berkeley County, WV, she was the daughter of Woodrow and Mary (Jenkins) Grove.

She was a member of the Blairton United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Murphy was employed as a school bus driver for 27 years. She also worked at Corning Glass and at Woody’s Taxi.

She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Housden of Martinsburg; three sons, Richard Murphy of Florida, Johnathan Murphy and Woodrow Murphy both of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Riner of Martinsburg and one brother, Tony Grove of Charles Town.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Sonny” Murphy; one grandson, and two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Lou Faircloth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Brown Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Deborah Housden at City Bank, 420 South Raleigh Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401 or the Humane Society, 554 Charles Town Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405.
