Condolence From: Greg Trumpower
Condolence: My condolences go out to the family of Bernie. I played drums in the band Buddy Kaye and the Casuals back in the 60's and will always remember the laces we played, the people we met, the fights he got in, the parties we went to, etc. Bernie was a wild and crazy guy and I'll miss knowing he's not around with us anymore. But he was definitely an influence in my playing. He always liked my drumming and vocals and it's a shame we never got to record with one another. I remember doing one record with Buddy Kaye at WAYZ in Waynesboro where Ronnie Kretzer (Buddy's younger brother), myself, Bernie and Anita Wetzel recorded a song of
Buddy's. I can't recall at the moment what the name of the song was, but I'm sure I have the 45 somewhere's in the boxes of discs I have packed away. Bernie always had a smile and kind words to anyone he met, except if you were crossing him in one way or another and then you'd wish you hadn't. Rest In Peace Brother and one day we'll all play together again.
