Obituary for Geraldine Rose Ellis (Piper)

Geraldine Rose Piper Ellis, 86, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on October 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by her children and loved ones.
Mrs. Ellis was born May 10, 1928 in Marianna, Pennsylvania, and is the daughter of the late Calvin Austin Piper and Thelma Pearl Christopher Piper.
Mrs. Ellis is preceded in death by two sisters, Olive Frances Trent and Thelma Leona Austin. She is survived by one sister, Karen Lee Faught, of Danbury, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Ellis married her high school sweetheart, Robert Gerald Ellis, of 67 years. The love of her life preceded her in death on July 14, 2014. She is survived by her six children, Linda Stalnaker (Michael Sr. deceased) of Covington, Kentucky, Patty Brunton (Larry) of Phoenix Arizona, Robert Ellis, Jr. (Paula) of Bowling Green, Virginia, Thelma Kaufmann (George) of Winchester, Virginia, Calvin Ellis (Renee) of Myersville, Maryland, Joyce Dorn (Mike Sr.) of Sterling, Virginia, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Mrs. Ellis graduated from Gilbert High School in Gilbert, West Virginia in 1947. She was very supportive of her six children and was an active member of the Gilbert Band Boosters from 1966 through 1973. She participated in raising funds for new band uniforms by selling popcorn during sporting events.
Mrs. Ellis had one of six children graduate Ceredo-Kenova High School and the other five children graduated from Gilbert High School. She raised two nurses, two United States Capital Police Officers, a CIA Admin Officer, and a School Bus Driver of 26 years for Loudoun County, Virginia.
Mrs. Ellis was of strong faith and she grew up in the Methodist Church. She encouraged her children to be knowledgeable and good Christians. She enjoyed laughing, embroidering, RV camping, being a mom, and sharing good times with all her family and especially her friends, As a mom, sister, aunt, grand-mother, cousin , and friend, she will be sadly missed by everyone. May she be reunited with her husband and family gone before her in the Lord's Kingdom.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Homes' South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 22, at the chapel with Bishop Todd Knecht officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
