Betty Louise "Peanut"  Coates
Betty Louise "Peanut" Coates, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

Born December 29, 1934 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late
Charles Coates and Margaretta Yontz Coates Starliper.

She had been employed with Perfection Garment for 34 years and 9 years with City Hospital.

She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Peanut had participated in local softball and bowling leagues and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by two nieces, Donna Watkins and husband, Rudolph, Athene Steinke and husband, Leland; sister friend, Michele "Mickey" Dorsey; extended family, Stephanie Lore, Patrick Dorsey, and Teresa Palmer; and a number of grand nieces, grand nephews, great grandnephews, and great-grandnieces.

She was preceded in death by a grandmother who raised her, Nellie Yontz; sister, Shirley Coates Thacker and husband, Jack; and a good friend, Chip Palmer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Father R. Eric Hall, IV, celebrant. Interment prayers will be said at St. Leo Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 7:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkeley County Humane Society, 554 Charles Town Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405; St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Queen Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401 or Meals on Wheels, 116 E. King Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
