Franklin Ely "Frank"  Thompson
Franklin “Frank” Ely Thompson, 81, of Martinsburg, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014, at the VA Medical Center.

Born November 18, 1932 in Shenandoah Junction, he was the son of the late Charles D. Thompson and Myda (Welch) Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He worked at Jefferson Asphalt for 37 years and also owned and operated a service
station, he had worked for 60 years.

He was member of Martinsburg Moose Lodge #120. Frank also loved anything to do with tractor pulls and NASCAR.

He was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his two brothers, Calvin R. and wife, Phyllis, and William D. and wife, June Thompson; four grandchildren, Tonia Jenkins and husband, Carl, Debbie Spalding and husband, Doug, Desire Beard and husband, Matthew, and Dawnelle Plant; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; son- in-law, Michael Plant; close friends, Mel and Donna Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Gross Thompson; three daughters, Jane M. Thompson, Pauline Bentley and Nancy Plant; four brothers, Charles D., Paul A., Robert S. and Kenneth D. Thompson; and sister, Jean Ellen Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 9th, at Brown Funeral Home with Pam Judy, officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, or the American Cancer Society.
