Condolence: Lona and family I knew Alan as a nurse on the VA UAN national negotiating committee in 2002 he was devoted to his family and the veterans and nurses he served. He was full of energy and had a positive way of looking at things. We kept in touch and I know he loved the grand babies and he looked forward to your retirement in December. My sincere condolences and sympathy to all of your family. I'm certain you have many fond memories of your life with Alan. He was a good man and left this world a better place

Condolence: Dear Lona (and Family),
I'm not sure if you remember me as it's been probably 30 years since I last saw Lona and Alan, when we spent time at the family home on Smith Beach. I met Alan through Steve Evans and Nick Kercheval, who have kept me informed through of years of all of the Akers' doings. I always enjoyed being around Alan; I remember him as always being positive and, definitely, always living life to the fullest! I am so sorry for your loss as it is his friends' loss as well.

Yours truly,
Phil Goldstein

Condolence: When I think of Alan, I think of his smile and his eyes that said it all. We were glad to have known him. Know that we are praying for all of you in the family. I know your loss is great, but Alan is now with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords incredibly happy and healthy. I pray that thought brings you peace, and it isn't the end for him, but a new beginning. Know that you all will see him again. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
