Obituary for Chaplain Steven J. Jenks

Chaplain Steven J. Jenks, 62, of Inwood, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 12, 2014 at his home.

Born June 12, 1952 in, Neenah, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Lorch Howard and Shirley Ada (Gibson) Jenks.

Rev. Jenks was a Methodist minister on special appointment to the VAMC as a Chaplain serving in the Martinsburg VA for 23 years.

He was raised on a dairy farm, was an avid sports fan, loved to watch the Green Bay Packers, and found enjoyment in all aspects of life, including a cigar at the river.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Elizabeth (Johnson) Jenks; two daughters, Stephanie, and Mimi and husband, Jon; one son, Ryan and wife, Tina; and five grandchildren, Brooksen, Grady, Alaina, Casey and Lillian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Jenks.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p .m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town with Rev. Melanie McCarley officiating.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bank of Charles Town, downtown main branch, 111 East Washington St., Charles Town, WV 25414. Funds will go towards his daughter's nursing school education.
