Joan Alexandria Johnson, 70, of Martinsburg, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at John Hopkins Medical Center at 6:53PM.

Born April 23, 1944 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel Kitt and Juanita Lelia Lawrence.

She was employed as a nursing assistant for Summerford Assisted Living.

She is survived by her husband, James Nathaniel Johnson; son, Ernest K. Cole, of Hagerstown, MD; daughter, Joy A. Jones, of Martinsburg; step-daughter, Christa Idette Johnson, of Baltimore, MD; 5 grandchildren, Ernest Cole II, Jeremy S. Cole, Alexandria Cole, Irea Cole, and Michael J. Severe; one great-grandson, Michael J. Severe, Jr.; one niece and Goddaughter, Margo Blakney.

Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home with Minister Jamol Cooper officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
