Ruth Joanne  Shade
Ruth Joanne (Gletner) Shade, 72, was called home into the Glory of the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 23, 1941, in Berkeley Co., WV to the late Douglas and Geraldine (Payne) Gletner. She is survived by two sisters, Linda Kime and husband, Rick; Cheryl Brown and husband, Curt; and one brother, Matthew Gletner and wife, Stacie.
On September 15, 1958 she was united in marriage with the late Leonard R. Shade, Sr. Together their union blessed them with five children; Karon Wilson, Diana Weller and husband, David, Pamela Schiano di Cola and husband, Raimondo, Kimberly Shade & Leonard Shade Jr. and wife, Elizabeth. Further blessings came in seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; Jaclyn Ainsworth & her children: Noah, Chase, Presley & Wyatt. Leonardo Schiano di Cola & his children: Raimondo & Guilianna. Ciro Schiano di Cola & his children: Gabriella, Isabella, Annabella & Ciro, Michele Schiano di Cola, Justin Griffith, Kyle Wilson, Kelli Swain & her children: Landen & Leilah.
Ruth was primarily a homemaker, dedicated wife and mother for the last 55 years. In the 1980's she entered the workforce as a deli clerk at Community Market. She finished her working career into the 1990's as a caretaker for the mentally challenged at The Potomac Center on Marshall Street in Hagerstown, MD.
Ruth was a God fearing woman who loved her family, reading, knitting, puzzles, nature and her once in a life-time adventure to Hawaii. She will be remembered most for her enduring love, unwavering strength and commitment, and pride in her family and home.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 3:30PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor Dale Cosden. Family will receive friends from 2:30PM to 3:30PM prior to services at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Association, 2625 Clearwater Road Suite 110, St. Cloud, MN 56301.
