Obituary for Hazel Amanda Custer
Hazel Amanda Custer, 91, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born October 10, 1922 in Bakerton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence H. and Lula Amanda Hawn Kidwiler.
Hazel had a big heart for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a passion for cooking and having family gatherings.
She is survived by her son, Robert Larry Custer of Everett, Pennsylvania; daughter, JoAnn Arnold, of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, R. Tony Custer, Staci M. Horton, Angela C. Nine and Patrick W. Arnold, all of Martinsburg; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Nine, Catie Nine, Jonathan Nine and Kiera Horton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Porterfield Custer, and two sisters, Clairsee Lee Capriotti and Thelma Virginia Kemp.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Garry Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown.
