Obituary for Charles Wayne "Bill" Quenzel

Charles Wayne “Bill” Quenzel, 86, of Martinsburg died on Friday, February 20, 2009 at City Hospital.


Born December 2, 1922 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Charles Albert Quenzel and Lillian Bethel Ware Quenzel.


He was a veteran of the US Army and a Supervisor at Charles Town Races and Slots.


He was a member of the Winchester Avenue Christian Church, former member of the Elks and Jaycees, and Grand Master Tae Kwon Do, 10th Degree, and founder of Quenzel’s Karate Self Defense Club 1942.


He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Jean Elizabeth Everhart Quenzel; one son, David W. Quenzel of Martinsburg; two daughters, Deborah J. Hammond of Bridgewater, VA. and Wendy A. Brown and husband, Michael, of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Al Quenzel.


Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Taylor presiding.


Family will receive friends at the Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 24, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg WV 25403.
