Built in 1852, the King Street facility was widely known in the 1870s as the Berkeley Female Seminary. In 1924, H.K. Brown purchased it and used it as both a residence and funeral parlor. It has since been remodeled three times, with additions in 1951 and 1961. It is the birthplace of Charles M. Brown.
